European Union

The European Union has set in its Biofuel Directive targets to promote the use of renewable fuels in petrol and diesel. For 2005 the target was set at 2 percent and for 2010 this target is 5.75 percent. This means that ideally by 2010 of all motor fuels for transport 5.75 percent should be from a renewable source such as, for example, bioethanol.

Every year the EU Member States report to the European Commission how far they have progressed in achieving the target. These national reports can be found here:
